United Nations

As a former Marine, I believe it is important to continue efforts in foreign assistance and participation in multilateral organizations, through which the United States defends our nation and way of life, promotes economic growth, fosters stability among nations, and encourages the development of representative governments.

With that in mind, I favor acting apart from these organizations when they do not promote the ideals of freedom that we hold so dear. In recent years, I have expressed my objection to several United Nations treaties which threatened to impede on U.S. sovereignty. That is not a risk I am willing to take. Rest assured, I take my constitutional duties seriously and will continue to closely evaluate all merits of any international agreements before supporting their further consideration in the Senate.
