School Choice
School Choice
Throughout my years as a public servant, and as a member of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, I have consistently supported efforts that ensure every child has access to a quality education. School choice is an important piece of the education conversation because all children, no matter who they are or where they live, should not be discouraged or prohibited from the opportunity to learn and achieve their dreams.
Allowing federal funds to follow students to the school of their choice will inject competition into the system by letting low-income parents the ability to decide what school can best meet the educational needs of their child. For that reason, I cosponsored legislation to allow more school choice for low income parents. Moving forward, I will continue to support policies that ensure school choice for both students and parents.
