Senator Roberts Applauds Passage of NDAA
Dec 17 2019
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) today voted in favor of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2020 (NDAA), which provides $735 billion in funding for national defense spending.
“Today’s passage of the NDAA will provide our men and women in uniform a well-deserved and much needed pay raise,” said Sen. Roberts. “As the senior Marine in Congress, I understand how crucial the NDAA is to ensuring our troops are provided with the best equipment, training and support necessary to serve our country. I am also pleased to see that Kansas companies will be a direct benefactor of funding provided in the NDAA.”
This legislation will give troops a 3.1% pay raise, the largest pay raise for members of the armed forces in nearly a decade. It also creates a new U.S. Space Force as the sixth Armed Service of the U.S. Air Force, supports the lives of military families by including landmark reform of the military privatized housing system, provides critical funding for disaster recovery and invests in advancements in technology to counter adversaries like Russia and China.-30-
