Press Releases

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts today released the following statement regarding the decision by Jill Sommers, a Kansan and Commissioner on the Commodities Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to leave her post this year:

“Jill Sommers has served with distinction on the CFTC. Her work on the MF Global investigation and the many challenges facing the CFTC, especially in the last two years, has been excellent. She has been consistent voice of reason at the CFTC during implementation of the Dodd-Frank Act and I will miss her advice and counsel.

“I have been so proud to have a Kansan on the Commission, one who understands agriculture and the futures industry after a distinguished career that started with Senator Bob Dole and produced real leadership on the CFTC. I wish her the best of luck in her future endeavors and thank her for her service and friendship.”

Senator Roberts is a senior member of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry and is a member of the Senate Committee on Finance.
