Press Releases
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS) today said the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) declared ten Kansas counties as disaster areas due to sufficient production losses caused by excessive rain late 2009.
USDA designated Allen and Linn counties as primary natural disaster areas. The following counties have been declared contiguous disaster counties: Anderson, Bourbon, Coffey, Franklin, Miami, Neosho, Wilson and Woodson.
Producers in both primary and contiguous counties are eligible to be considered for Farm Service Agency (FSA) emergency loans (EM) and the Supplemental Revenue Assistance Program (SURE). FSA will consider each application on its own merit by taking into account the extent of losses, security available and repayment ability. Farmers and ranchers in the affected areas should consult their local FSA office.
Senator Roberts is a senior member of the Senate Agriculture Committee.
