WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) today voted in support of S. 3021, America’s Water Infrastructure Act, legislation that keeps communities’ drinking water safe, improves flood control in Kansas, cuts red tape and grows the economy.

The bill includes key provisions for flood control in Kansas, including aligning schedules and practices for flood damage reduction along the Missouri River in both Kansas City, Kansas and Kansas City, Missouri. It also will expedite a feasibility study for the Kansas River Weir in Topeka.

“This legislation is essential in helping local water infrastructure projects move forward,” said Sen. Roberts. “I’m glad it also ensures local communities have input over what projects receive funding.”

S. 3021 will also make it easier for projects to get through the Army Corps process and authorizes important projects to deepen ports, which will help ensure the shipment of goods from the Midwest to the coasts and around the world.

The bill now goes to the President to be signed into law.
