    WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS) today announced a $53,000 grant to South Central Kansas Economic Development District, Inc. for economic development district planning in Wichita.

    The grant will support development and implementation of a comprehensive economic development strategy (CEDS) in the region served by the South Central Kansas Economic Development District, Inc. which comprises of Butler, Chautauqua, Cowley, Elk, Greenwood, Harper, Kingman, Marion, McPherson, Reno, Rice, Sedgwick, and Sumner counties. The CEDS program is designed to bring together the public and private sectors in the creation jobs and an economic development roadmap to diversify and strengthen the regional economy.

    The grant was awarded by the U.S. Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration. The total project cost is $88,333.

    Senator Roberts is a member of the Senate Finance Committee.
