WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS) announced a $385,000 grant to Johnson County for law enforcement under the Forensic DNA Backlog Reduction Program.
The funds will be used to reduce forensic DNA sample turnaround time, increase the output of public DNA laboratories, and reduce DNA forensic casework backlogs. These improvements are critical to prevent future DNA backlogs and to help the criminal justice system use the full potential of DNA technology.
The grant was awarded by the United States Department of Justice’s National Institute of Justice.
