WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS) announced a $23,600 grant to the city of Garden City for law enforcement equipment.
The funds will be used to replace four in-car computers. The computers are utilized on a daily basis to access data from patrol vehicles while conducting routine patrol duties. The officers will be able to access the Garden City Police Department’s central database, the state motor vehicle and driver’s license databases, and the National Crime Information Center. The computers have a life expectancy of five years before rotation is necessary. These purchases will assist in the prevention and control of crime, and also the improvement of the criminal justice system.
The grant was awarded by the United States Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance and made available by the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program.
