National Taxpayer Union Foundation: Senator Roberts Proposed over $205 Billion in Cuts to Federal Spending in 2013

NTUF Finds Roberts Proposed Nearly Half a Trillion in Spending Cuts Since 2008

Jul 17 2014

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) proposed more than $205 billion in cuts to federal spending in the first session of the 113th Congress according to the non-partisan National Taxpayer Union Foundation (NTUF). Roberts ranks second in the Kansas Congressional delegation in saving taxpayer dollars.

“I am proud to have introduced and supported bills that reduce spending and debt. I will continue to fight for legislation that reins in spending and allows Kansans to keep more of their hard earned dollars,” Roberts said.

According to the report, Senator Roberts and U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.) proposed $178 billion in net spending reductions on average, which was the 6th highest in the U.S. Senate. Together with the House members, the Kansas Delegation supports the second largest savings agenda in 2013.

In fact, over the last three Congresses, Senator Roberts has proposed nearly half a trillion dollars in cuts to federal spending.

Among the proposals with the most savings were bills to repeal Obamacare, eliminate the individual mandate in Obamacare and overhaul the tax code. For more on the specific proposals from Senator Roberts, visit here.

Senator Roberts is a senior member of the Senate Committee on Finance.
