WASHINGTON, DC– U.S. Senator Pat Roberts today announced over $1.1 million in nine grants were awarded to Kansas firefighters to improve homeland security.
Senator Roberts said, "I am pleased to announce these funds, which are vital to improve firefighting efforts and first responder needs in rural Kansas. It’s imperative to support our local fire departments."
Pottawatomie Township Volunteer Fire Department in Lane: $151,050 for Vehicle Acquisition
Marshall County Rural Fire District No. 9 in Frankfort: $156,750 for Vehicle Acquisition
Harper Fire Department: $247,950 for Vehicle Acquisition
Cowley County Fire District #2 in Atlanta: $175,750 for Vehicle Acquisition
Oketo/Balderson Rural Fire District #5 in Oketo: $19,684 for Fire Operations and Safety
City of Erie: $237,500 for Vehicle Acquisition
Hesston Fire Department: $9,500 for Fire Operations and Safety
Concordia Fire Department: $36,100 for Fire Operations and Safety
City of Quinter Volunteer Fire Department: $76,542 for Fire Operations and Safety
The funds were awarded by the 2008 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program under the United States Department of Homeland Security. The program assists rural, urban and suburban fire departments throughout the United States.
