Senator Roberts: Another Obamacare Delay for Business and Politics; Where is Delay for Individual?
Feb 10 2014
WASHINGTON, DC – On the news of yet another delay in the Obamacare business mandate by the Obama Administration, U.S. Senator Pat Roberts today said the delay was just more evidence the law is unworkable and rather than pick and choose who must live under its mandates, the whole bill should be repealed.
"The Obama Administration issues another delay for the President’s legacy program today without Congressional involvement,” Roberts said. “The Administration is picking and choosing who will benefit, and scheduling the delay until after yet more elections. I have to ask, where is the delay for the individual? Where is the delay for the average American? We must repeal and replace this law."
At issue is the announcement by the Obama Administration to again delay its implementation of Obamacare. Mid-size employers will now have another year to avoid the new tax enacted by Obamacare. Businesses with between 50 and 100 full time employees will not have to comply with the new mandate until 2016.
This comes on the heels of significant pressure from employers across the country. It follows the CBO Budget and Economic Outlook released last week that stated the President’s health care law would cost Americans 2.5 million jobs by 2024 – 1.5 million more than the previously estimated. The report also stated that Obamacare will cost $2 trillion, more than twice as much as previously estimated, and that about a million fewer Americans than previously estimated will receive health insurance coverage in 2014.
Senator Roberts is an outspoken opponent of Obamacare.
