WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts today released the following statement recognizing the sacrifice of men and women in uniform and their families in advance of the “Day of the Deployed,” Saturday, October 26, 2013.
Roberts, a former Marine, released the following statement: (Audio here)
“October 26th marks the ‘Day of the Deployed.’
“However, our honor and tribute to those who continue to be in harm’s way, sacrificing their safety and their lives for America’s freedom, should not be limited to just one day.
“Every day for the family and friends of those serving our nation is a sacrifice. For them, every day is ‘Day of the Deployed.’
“I continue to work hard in the United States Senate to ensure that each and every one of our warfighters, National Guardsmen, Reservists, and active-duty receive the best support possible to ensure a successful mission and a safe return.
“It has been 12 years since the war began. Unfortunately, terrorism persists and the fight continues. Regardless of what is said in Washington or whether the news coverage has dwindled, we stand proudly behind you.
“As our soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines continue to deploy every day to fight our adversaries, we must never forget the debt of gratitude we owe them for keeping us safe.
“To those deployed and to those loved ones at home supporting them through emails, phone calls, and video chats, Oo’rah and Semper fi.”
Senator Roberts is an outspoken advocate for members of the military and their families.
