WASHINGTON, DC – Today, U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS) announced a $391,800 grant to the Adjutant General’s Department in Topeka for emergency preparedness for transportation incidents in Kansas.

The funds are awarded annually to improve the response to transportation incidents involving hazardous materials. This grant will be used to train first responders in Kansas to react to incidents involving hazardous materials and to meet the safety challenges posed by new chemicals and products.

The grant was awarded by the United States Department of Transportation’s Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Administration under the Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness Grants Program.
