WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts today announced the Senate passed the Department of Transportation and Housing and Urban Development Appropriations Bill for Fiscal Year 2010 including important projects for Kansas. The bill now goes to a conference committee with the House version of the bill.
"I am pleased this bill contains significant investments to Kansas transportation infrastructure and safety," Senator Roberts said. "The bill includes funding to continue state-of-the-art research at Wichita State’s National Institute for Aviation Research."
The following projects Senator Roberts personally worked to include in the bill:
- Interchange design and construction of the Kansas Highway 10 and Lone Elm Interchange, Lenexa, Kansas - $500,000;
- Kansas High Tech Corridor (South Lawrence Trafficway) - $1,250,000.
The following projects Senators Roberts and U.S. Senator Sam Brownback worked to include in the bill:
- Advanced Materials Research at the National Institute for Aviation Research, Wichita State University -$1,500,000
- Nondestructive Inspection Training for Composite Airframe Structures at the National Institute for Aviation Research, Wichita State University -$250,000
- Redesign and Reconstruction of I-235/Kellogg (US 54) Interchange and I-235 Central Avenue Interchange, Wichita, KS-$500,000
- I-70 Viaduct Realignment-$500,000
- 159th Street and US 69 Interchange Improvements, Johnson County, KS-$2,000,000
- Jenny Barker Road/K-156/Mary Street Reconfiguration, Garden City, Finney Co.-$500,000
- Statewide (Rural and Urban) Bus and Bus Facilities, KS-$2,000,000
