Press Releases

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senators Pat Roberts (R-Kan.), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) and Dan Sullivan (R-Alaska), the co-chairs of the new U.S. Senate Marine Corps Caucus, today released the following statement regarding the domestic terror attacks on two military recruiting offices in Chattanooga, Tenn.:

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the loved ones and fellow Marines of those killed in Chattanooga. These Marines were serving their country and our Corps in a deeply honorable and valuable role. Recruiters serving around the nation are making a difference to the continuity and tradition of the U.S. Marines. But most important, they are changing the lives of men and women seeking to be a part of the few and the proud.

“We must focus on taking care of the families of these Marines, and on the safety of all of our men and women in uniform in the communities they serve. Semper Fi.”

The U.S. Senate Marine Corps Caucus was formed to focus on issues related to the unique war-fighting capabilities of the Marine Corps, including the safety, security, training, and wellness of the Corps.

Senator Roberts is the most senior Marine in the Congress. Roberts joined Senators Sullivan and Blumenthal, the other Marines in the Senate, to serve as co-chairs of the caucus. Members include Sens. John Boozman (R-Ark.), John Cornyn (R-Texas), James Inhofe (R-Iowa), Ron Johnson (R-Wis.), Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), John Thune (R-S.D.), Mark Warner (D-Va.) and Mike Rounds (R-S.D.).
