WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS) today announced a $3,100 grant to the city of Wathena for a second storm warning siren.
The funds will be used to install a second storm warning siren in Wathena to fully cover the town and to update the operating frequency on the existing siren. The siren will serve a population of 1,348. The city will contribute $17,769 for this project with the total project costing $20,905.
The community facility grant was awarded by the United States Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development Office. Senator Roberts is a senior member of the Senate Agriculture Committee.
