WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts announced the Senate approved a resolution he supported to commend the Honor Flight Network, an organization of volunteers that have made it possible for thousands of World War II veterans to visit the World War II Memorial on the National Mall.

"I have visited with Kansas veterans on Honor Flights from Kansas," Senator Roberts said. "It is incredibly moving to hear their stories and see the pride in their eyes as they view their memorial. Unique to Kansas, however, is the pairing of high school student volunteers with WWII veterans. This combination provides a great opportunity for kids to learn about the experiences first-hand from Kansas WWII veterans. The volunteers and donors of the Honor Flights Network deserve the thanks of a grateful nation for their tribute to the greatest generation. Thank you and Semper Fi."
