Conrad Burns was Montana's version of Will Rogers. With his unique sense of humor and plain spoken common sense, he was a gift to the United States Senate. He had the rare ability to defuse a divisive issue in a way that brought Senators together.
Conrad was an accomplished and award winning auctioneer and farm broadcaster whose personal background gave him the true grit ability and credentials to represent and fight for Montana's farmers and ranchers with no apologies. He was a marine's marine and a tireless champion of our military as a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee.
Conrad's accomplishments were many however he was a Senator who chose to work behind the scenes. Getting the job done came before credit. Conrad Burns was one of a kind, a kindred spirit, and the truest of friends. The Senate will not see the likes of him again. Our prayers and thoughts are with his wife Phyllis and his family.
