WASHINGTON, DC - Senator Pat Roberts, Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence, today announced the Senate approved the nomination of General Michael V. Hayden to be the next Director of the Central Intelligence Agency by a vote of 78 to 15.

In announcing the vote, Senator Roberts said, “I am extremely pleased that the Senate has confirmed, by an overwhelming margin, General Michael Hayden to be the next Director of the Central Intelligence Agency. The CIA is an integral and vital part of the Intelligence Community and needs strong leadership as we work to strengthen our national security. General Hayden has distinguished himself as a leader over his 35 years of service to this country, and I look forward to working with him in his new role.”
