WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts today announced that 7 Kansas counties have been declared contiguous federal disaster areas due to severe drought. The counties are: Cheyenne, Greeley, Hamilton, Morton, Sherman, Stanton, and Wallace.

Senator Roberts said, “I am pleased the USDA has taken this step to aid Kansas producers that are suffering.”

Family-sized farm operators in primary and contiguous counties are eligible to be considered for low-interest emergency loans from the Farm Service Agency provided eligibility requirements are met.
