WASHINGTON - U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-Kan.), Chairman of the Eisenhower Memorial Commission (EMC) today announced the Commission voted to approve modifications to the Memorial’s design.

“We are pleased with the design modifications recently made by Frank Gehry. We feel they further capture Dwight D. Eisenhower’s broad range of contributions to our nation and the world, in times of both war and peace.

“In addition, I’m happy to see the renewed focus on Ike’s home state of Kansas and his home town of Abilene, by incorporating his famous quote when he returned home from World War II, “The proudest thing I can claim is that I am from Abilene.”

“We thank Mr. Gehry for his excellent, creative work and for the completing it so expeditiously.”

Senator Roberts, Senator Bob Dole and members of the Eisenhower Memorial Commission’s Advisory Committee continue to raise funds for the construction of the Memorial.
