WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS) today announced a $34,500 grant to the city of Hutchinson for law enforcement equipment.

The funds will be used to purchase 10 P25 compliant mobile radios for the police and sheriff’s department. The mobile radios will be used in command vehicles and will ensure that lines of communication are not interrupted during crisis or disaster periods. Deploying these radios in Reno County and the city of Hutchinson will provide emergency responders with a more reliable countywide mobile communication system and the ability to relay real time information to state, local, and federal agencies.

The grant was awarded by the United States Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance and made available by the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program.
