Senator Roberts Announces $357,700 Grant to Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, KS

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS) today announced a $357,700 grant to the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kansas for victim services and law enforcement investigation.
The grant allows the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department Victim Services Unit to implement a three-year program to enhance police-based victim services, increase crime prevention efforts, and improve the capacity of law enforcement and the criminal justice system to successfully investigate and prosecute criminal cases. The program will also enable the Kansas City Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Bureau to obtain tools to enhance evidence collection and case investigations as well as supply local prosecutors with quality evidence for presentation in criminal proceedings.
Senator Roberts said, "I am pleased to announce these funds, which are vital to improve crime fighting efforts and law enforcement investigation needs in Kansas City."
The funds were made available by United States Department of Justice’s Edward Byrne Memorial Discretionary Grants Program under the Bureau of Justice Assistance.
