WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS) today announced a $400,000 grant to the Kansas Board of Pharmacy in Topeka for prescription drug monitoring.
The funds will be used to support the Kansas Prescription Drug Monitoring Program (PMP). The PMP will utilize an electronic monitoring system to facilitate the transmission and collection of data on all Schedule II through Schedule IV controlled substances and drugs of concern dispensed to patients in Kansas. The system will also include software that will allow for analysis and reporting on prescribing and dispensing of controlled substances that can be utilized by health care providers to improve patient care and by law enforcement to reduce abuse and diversion.
The grant was awarded by the United States Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance and made available by the Harold Rogers Prescription Drug Monitoring Program.
