WASHINGTON, DC - U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-Kan.), Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, today welcomed the appointment of Dr. Alfonso Clavijo as Director of the National Bio and Agro-Defense Facility (NBAF) located in Manhattan, Kansas.

“Progress on NBAF continues, and I’m pleased that important hires are being made to ensure leadership is in place at NBAF. This national security laboratory asset is critical in protecting our food supply and American agriculture against emerging threats,” said Sen Roberts. “Congratulations to Dr. Alfonso Clavijo on being named the Director of NBAF.”

NBAF celebrated its groundbreaking in May 2015 and is expected to be completed in 2022. The research that will be conducted at NBAF will be crucial throughout the Kansas City Animal Health Corridor and the country.
