WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS) today announced a $3.2 million grant to Nazarene Compassionate Ministries, Inc. in Lenexa for mentoring.

Nazarene Compassionate Ministries, Inc. (NCMI) is an intermediary for 178 non-profit Compassionate Ministry Centers (CMCs) serving at-risk youth nationwide. The funds will be used to expand an existing mentoring movement among CMCs to promote and institutionalize a wide range of mentoring best practices. The current total number of youth being mentored across the ten implementing sites is 758 and NCMI seeks to double the number of mentors and mentees to be served by the participating centers across all six regions over three years. These centers will receive capacity building, training, technical assistance and funds to identify and implement best practices for the mentoring model and documentation of outcomes.

The grant was awarded by the United States Department of Justice’s Office of Justice Programs and made available by the National Mentoring Program.
