WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS) today announced a $67,600 grant to the city of Lawrence for law enforcement technology equipment.
The funds will be used to purchase a 64 channel 911 recording system which includes a supporting server, storage center, software, installation, and training. The new recording system will be utilized by both Douglas County and the city of Lawrence as well as all emergency services in Douglas County. Additionally, the new recording system will allow for review of all radio and phone traffic, more accurate responses to calls for service, statistical analysis, and retrieval of information for investigations.
The grant was awarded by the United States Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance and made available by the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program.
