WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS) today announced a $40,300 grant to Riley County for law enforcement equipment.

The funds will be used to purchase software needed to operate Mobile Data Terminals (MDT) for the Riley County Police Department. Goals of the project include increased information flow to officers in the field, facilitation of a paperless reporting system, increased efficiency in response to citizen calls for service, and improved crime prevention effectiveness. The MDT will provide data analysis and dissemination of critical information to officers who require immediate situation or individual background information. This system enables all users to view calls in real time, access maps and access critical safety information and intelligence.

The grant was awarded by the United States Department of Justice’s Bureau of Justice Assistance and made available by the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program.
