Senator Roberts Votes to Protect Innocent Life
Feb 25 2019
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts today voted in favor of legislation to ensure all babies born alive have their right to life respected and receive the medical care they need. Senator Roberts is an original co-sponsor of the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Act, S.311. The bill failed to get the 60 votes needed to proceed.
“Recent efforts to degrade the sanctity of life in Virginia and New York make it necessary to ensure medical care is mandatory for innocent newborn babies, no matter the circumstances of their birth,” Roberts said. “The vote on these important protections for life should have been unanimous.”
Senator Roberts is pro-life. Last month, he joined Senator Roger Wicker in introducing the No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act to permanently prohibit taxpayer-funded abortions, and to require that all health insurance plans offered by Obamacare exchanges disclose whether a plan includes coverage of elective abortion procedures. He is also a cosponsor of the Conscience Protection Act and the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. Earlier this month he was awarded the David Gittrich Life Award from Kansans for Life.
