WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts today announced the Senate approved a bill to protect the Highway Trust Fund to improve Kansas roadways while preserving construction jobs and investments to the Kansas economy.

"As a member of the Senate Finance Committee with jurisdiction over the Highway Trust Fund," Senator Roberts said, "I worked with other Members of Congress toward a responsible solution. These funds invest in our economy, create construction jobs and improve highway safety, especially in rural states like Kansas where we have over 140,000 public road miles. A healthy Highway Trust Fund is vital to maintaining the state's high transportation standard."

Senator Roberts is a member of the Senate Finance Committee.
