WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) today applauded President Trumps’ commitment to eliminating burdensome regulations and called for the Senate to approve his bill requiring a comprehensive review of all regulations affecting the economy in future administrations.

“I am glad President Trump will roll back the Obama Administration’s burdensome regulations that have slowed our economic growth,” Roberts said. “I have taken it one step further and have introduced a bill to prevent future regulatory abuse to put these protections into law.”

President Trump today signed an executive order to slash regulations.

Roberts’ bill, S. 69, the Regulatory Responsibility for our Economy Act (RREA), would require all federal agencies to review their significant regulations, and propose a timeline to repeal those deemed burdensome, unnecessary or those that harm the economy or job creation.

The RREA ensures that regulations put forth by the Executive branch consider the economic burden on American businesses, account for stakeholder input, and promote innovation.

“My bill eliminates loopholes exploited by the Obama Administration to ignore public comment, which allowed them to ram through a political agenda at the expense of our economy and jobs. Farmers, ranchers and other businesses up and down Main Street should have a partner in government, not an adversary.”
