WASHINGTON, DC– U.S. Senator Pat Roberts today announced over $432,000 in eight grants were awarded to Kansas firefighters to improve homeland security.
Senator Roberts said, “I am pleased to announce these funds, which are vital to improve firefighting efforts and first responder needs in rural Kansas. It’s imperative to support our local fire departments.”
• Altamont Fire Department: $44,460 for Fire Operations and Safety
• Bushton Fire Department: $24,613 for Fire Operations and Safety
• Anderson County Rural Fire Department in Garnett: $37,050 for Fire Operations and Safety
• Fort Scott Rural Fire Department: $184,292 for Vehicle Acquisition
• Linn County Rural Fire District #1 in Pleasanton: $13,069 for Fire Operations and Safety
• Kickapoo Township Volunteer Fire Department in Easton: $59,850 for Fire Operations and Safety
• Harper Fire Department: $41,395 for Fire Operations and Safety
• Mulvane Emergency Services: $27,835 for Fire Operations and Safety
The funds were awarded by the 2009 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program under the United States Department of Homeland Security. The program assists rural, urban and suburban fire departments throughout the United States.
