WASHINGTON, DC– U.S. Senator Pat Roberts today announced over $405,500 in six grants were awarded to Kansas firefighters to improve homeland security.
Senator Roberts said, "I am pleased to announce these funds, which are vital to improve firefighting efforts and first responder needs in rural Kansas. It’s imperative to support our local fire departments."
Chautauqua County Rural Fire District #3 in Peru: $47,908 for Vehicle Acquisition
Wellington Fire/EMS Department: $38,000 for Fire Operations and Safety
Sedgwick Volunteer Fire Department: $201,400 for Vehicle Acquisition
Rural Fire District No. 1/Chautauqua County in Cedar Vale: $27,195 for Fire Operations and Safety
Sheridan County Fire District #1 in Hoxie: $56,145 for Fire Operations and Safety
Finney County Emergency Medical Services in Garden City: $34,875 for Fire Operations and Safety
The funds were awarded by the 2008 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program under the United States Department of Homeland Security. The program assists rural, urban and suburban fire departments throughout the United States.
