Senator Roberts Supports Bill to Make Smarter Spending Cuts; Tax Hikes, Scare Tactics Won’t Slow Spending
Feb 28 2013
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts voted for legislation to make better, targeted spending cuts across the federal government in order to achieve mandatory spending reductions saving the taxpayer $85 billion.
“Cuts to spending must be made for our economy, and the future of our nation. Unfortunately, the President has directed his administration to cut spending where it hurts in an effort to leverage more tax hikes on the American people. This is not productive and ignores out-of-control government spending. I supported this proposal to restore the ability of each agency to determine where savings can be found in ways that protect our national security and safety.”
Roberts supported S. 16, an alternative to the sequester, which failed on a party line vote.
