WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts today said he will oppose cloture votes on the Continuing Resolution to block efforts to further sustain Obamacare and its effects on the economy. Roberts will vote no on cloture on the motion to proceed to the continuing resolution and no on cloture on the bill.

“I see no reason to keep the charade going. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has said the House’s Continuing Resolution that defunds Obamacare and caps spending is dead on arrival in the Senate. I cannot vote to further legislation that does not hold true to the demands of millions of Americans who have said Obamacare is hurting their families, their businesses and our nation’s economic recovery.

“We have seen delay after delay, unintended consequence after unintended consequence of Obamacare. We have seen folks lose their coverage, have their hours reduced, or worse, we have seen them lose their jobs. Premiums are going up. We are days away from the exchanges going online and we don’t know if they will work.

“I cannot support efforts to keep Obamacare and its consequences on our economy and our nation’s future.”

Senator Roberts is a member of the Senate Committee on Finance, the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions and is co-chairman of the Senate Rural Health Caucus.
