Senator Roberts: Kansas Corporation Commission (KCC) Policy Better for Kansas Farmers and Ranchers
Feb 20 2008
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS) today announced the Kansas Corporation Commission (KCC) clarified their previous policy on "farm to market" transportation of grain and livestock. Senator Roberts made the following statement:
"I am pleased the KCC quickly clarified their position so producers hauling grain and livestock to market within the state are again considered part of intrastate commerce. This decision allows farmers and ranchers to focus on producing and marketing rather than dealing with costly and burdensome licensing and record keeping requirements that do not contribute to the safety of the motoring public. This common sense approach is much more practical for our Kansas farmers and ranchers."
Senator Roberts is a senior member of the Senate Agriculture Committee and former Chairman of the House Agriculture Committee.
