WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts today announced over $276,000 in grants to prevent and control crime based on local needs in Kansas.

Senator Roberts said, "I am pleased to announce these funds, which are vital to improve crime fighting efforts and first responder needs in Kansas. It’s imperative to support our local law enforcement."

  • City of Leavenworth: $21,362 to purchase equipment to better enforce traffic laws and reduce accidents. Funds will also be used to support the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s patrol and jail operations.
  • Sedgwick County: $239,849 to replace finger printing machines with more advanced Cross Match Technology. Funds will also be used for courthouse security, laptop computers and miscellaneous equipment.
  • City of Salina: $15,025 to increase simulator training for officers by adding "use-of-force" simulator training to deliver better responses by officers.

The funds were awarded by the United States Department of Justice’s Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Program.
