WASHINGTON – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) today released the following statement applauding President Trump’s nomination of Mike Pompeo, former 4^th District Congressman from Kansas and current CIA Director, to be Secretary of State:

“Mike Pompeo has always answered the call to serve. Shown by his leadership as CIA Director and 4^th District Congressman, Kansans and all Americans can be proud he will lead our nation as Secretary of State. His military and intelligence background will serve him well to lead the State Department, and I look forward to working with my Kansas colleague in this new capacity.”

Roberts, along with former Kansas Senator Bob Dole, introduced Director Pompeo at his nomination hearing before the Senate Intelligence Committee on January 12, 2017. Roberts also spoke on the Senate floor applauding his Senate confirmation on January 23, 2017.
