Senator Roberts Announces $4.2 Million Loan for Electricity Improvements in Five Kansas Counties

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS) today announced a $4.2 million loan for electrical improvements in Butler, Chautauqua, Cowley, Elk and Montgomery counties.
The funds will be used to serve 381 new consumers, build 34 miles of new distribution lines, and make other system improvements in the five counties under a hardship rate loan for 35 years.
The loan was awarded by the United States Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development Office under the Electric Loan Program. Senator Roberts is a senior member of the Senate Agriculture Committee.
