WASHINGTON, D.C. – Senator Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) is pleased to announce that Jennifer Boyer, a staffer in his Washington, D.C. office, is being honored with an award from the National Rural Health Association (NRHA) for her dedication to rural health care policy in 2011.

“I am incredibly pleased with the work Jennifer has done on behalf of rural communities to ensure that all Kansans have essential access to health care services,” said Roberts. “Her efforts and dedication to the unique challenges facing the rural healthcare system in Kansas is inspiring. This award is another illustration that my staff remains amongst the hardest, most dedicated workers on Capitol Hill.”

The NRHA award is given out annually to recognize outstanding leadership in rural health issues by both Members of Congress and Congressional staff. Boyer is just one of two Congressional staffers on Capitol Hill to receive the award from NRHA. She will be presented with the award at a Congressional Reception this evening.

Boyer has worked for Sen. Roberts since 2010 as his Senior Health Policy Advisor. During 2011, she spearheaded Sen. Roberts’ efforts to hold numerous healthcare forums and listening sessions throughout Kansas. The meetings brought together stakeholders and representatives from patient and health provider groups and academia.  Boyer also assists Sen. Roberts in his role as co-chair of the Senate Rural Health Caucus.
