WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS) today released the following statement regarding United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Mike Johanns’ resignation:
"Mike Johanns has been a good Agriculture Secretary to work with and has worked especially hard on the trade front to protect U.S. agriculture interests in the Doha round negotiations, while also working hard to reopen the Japanese and Korean markets to U.S. beef. I wish him well. Chuck Conner is well versed in agriculture policy and I am confident he will serve well as Acting Secretary."
Senator Roberts is a senior member of the Senate Agriculture Committee.
