WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) today applauded President Trump’s nomination of Stephen R. McAllister of Lawrence to be the U.S. Attorney for the District of Kansas.
“Mr. McAllister is a well-qualified and impressive nominee who has my full support to serve Kansans as U.S. Attorney,” Roberts said. “He has extensive legal experience in state and federal courts including arguing nine cases before the Supreme Court of the United States, where he once served as a clerk to Justice Clarence Thomas. In addition, Steve’s administrative experience as Dean of the University of Kansas Law School, combined with a heavy dose of western Kansas common sense acquired in his hometown of Lucas, will serve him well in the effort to prosecute both criminal and civil cases. I will urge my colleagues to approve his nomination.”
There are 93 U.S. Attorney offices in the United States. Each nominee must be approved by the Senate Committee on the Judiciary and then approved by the full Senate.
