Roberts’ full remarks, as prepared, are below:

Thank you, Mr. Chairman. It is honor and privilege to be here today to introduce Mrs. Holly Teeter as the nominee for United States District Judge for the District of Kansas.

I have had the opportunity to talk at length with Holly. Each time, I am impressed by her intellect, integrity, character, and experience.

The professional path that brought Holly to this point is both unique and exceptional. She received her bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering and then began to study law at the University of Kansas, where she quickly rose to the top of her class.

She has experience working for two district court judges, each giving her perspective on how she would lead a courtroom. Most recently, she served as an assistant U.S. attorney. Each position Holly has held has built her critical reasoning and decision-making skills. This is evident by her peer support and I venture to say, everyone who knows Holly and is familiar with her work and exceptional skills.

What separates Holly from other candidates is her calm demeanor and professionalism. As a mother of three boys, patience comes naturally to her. I am confident these qualities will serve her well in the courtroom.

Mr. Chairman, my colleagues, Holly Teeter has my strongest possible support and I have no doubt, she will uphold our Constitution as our Founding Fathers envisioned.

Teeter is originally from Lenexa, Kansas. She graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in chemical engineering. She later returned to law school and graduated number one in her class. She had held two clerkships at the federal district court level and currently serves as Assistant U.S. Attorney.

The Senate Judiciary Committee will vote on her nomination at a later date. Her nomination will then go to the full Senate for consideration.
