WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) today applauded President Trump’s nomination of John Broomes of Wichita to be Federal District Court Judge for the District of Kansas to succeed Judge Thomas Marten.

“Lieutenant Broomes is an exceptional nominee with an impressive record, who has my full support to serve as Kansas’ Federal District Court Judge,” Roberts said. “He not only graduated number one in his class at Washburn University’s School of Law, but he also graduated number one in his class from the U.S. Navy Submarine Officer’s School, serving our nation for five years and becoming a Navy Lieutenant. After law school graduation, he served as a clerk in Wichita under a federal district court judge, followed by an impressive career in private practice. He has extensive experience in federal cases, possesses a keen ability to listen, has outstanding writing skills and is known for his modest demeanor. I have full confidence in his ability to serve as an impartial, fair judge, and I urge my colleagues to support his nomination.”

Each nominee must be approved by the Senate Committee on the Judiciary and then approved by the full Senate.
