WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS) today announced the availability of Community Policing Grants to Kansas Law Enforcement Agencies under the COPS Hiring Recovery Program (CHRP).
"I am pleased to announce the availability of these grants and encourage local agencies to apply," Senator Roberts said. "Our local law enforcement agencies in Kansas do critical policing work to protect our communities" Senator Roberts said.
CHRP is a competitive grant program that provides funding directly to law enforcement agencies having primary law enforcement authority to create and preserve jobs and to increase their community policing capacity and crime-prevention efforts. Up to $1 billion in grant funding will be available for the hiring and rehiring of additional career law enforcement officers.
The CHRP grant solicitation program opens March 16, 2009 and closes April 14, 2009. For more information and to apply for these grants, visit: http://www.cops.usdoj.gov .
The grants are made available by the United States Department of Justice’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS) under the COPS Hiring Recovery Program (CHRP), and were made available by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
