Press Releases
WASHINGTON, D.C. –U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) released the following statement in remembrance of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks in Pennsylvania, New York and Washington:
“Thirteen years ago this morning our nation was rocked by the horrific attacks on our homeland on September 11, 2001. We lost mothers and fathers, sons and daughters, friends and coworkers. American families were torn apart that day, and our country was dragged into a war with radical Islam that we never sought and never wanted.
“All these years later we are still grappling with the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks. The threat from radical Islam remains, and our men and women in uniform are still putting their lives at risk in defense of our freedoms.
“It is important that we take time, especially today, to remember the men and women who died on that terrible morning and those we have lost in the defense of freedom since. May their sacrifice never be forgotten.”
