WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Pat Roberts (R-KS) today announced a $40,000 grant to the Smoky Hill Development Corporation in Ellsworth for small business development.

The funds will be used to provide a revolving loan fund to assist small and emerging businesses in Ellsworth County. The focus of the project is to provide a source of financing to help small business entrepreneurs succeed. The goal of Smoky Hill is to create and/or save twelve jobs.

The grant was awarded by the United States Department of Agriculture’s Rural Development Office under the Rural Business Enterprise Grant Program. Senator Roberts is a senior member of the Senate Agriculture Committee.
