Exciting news for the Eisenhower Memorial!

I have great news for Kansas, World War II veterans, and future generations of Americans. After many years of discussion, the Eisenhower family has agreed to allow the National Eisenhower Memorial Project to move forward in Washington, D.C.

As chairman of the Eisenhower Memorial Commission, I want to thank the Eisenhower family – Susan, Anne, Mary Jean and David – for working through design issues that have brought us together on a memorial for Dwight D. Eisenhower. I am so proud Kansas’ favorite son and our state can now be represented in a permanent place on the National Mall.

This memorial will forever honor President Eisenhower’s contributions to our country and our world, as both General and President. The timing of this resolution could not have been better – it will help us reach our goal of dedicating the memorial on June 6, 2019, the 75th anniversary of D-Day.

Wrapping up another great year at the Kansas State Fair!

We have just wrapped up another fantastic year at the Kansas State Fair. Thank you to the many Kansans who stopped by my booth and shared what was on your mind with me and members of my staff. It was great to hear the issues important to you and discuss what we are working in Kansas and Washington.

It was an honor to host House Agriculture Committee Chairman Mike Conaway of Texas for this year’s fair. We had the privilege of participating in WIBW/Kansas Ag Network’s Agriculture Forum hosted by Kelly Lenz where we took questions from producers around the state.

We also attended the annual Kansas Farm Bureau Breakfast, where we were joined here by K-State Interim President General Richard Myers and Governor Brownback.

We then presented a Senate resolution commemorating the 100th anniversary of Farm Credit, and placed it in their time capsule.

I also stopped by the Kansas Future Farmers of America booth to chat with these impressive future ag leaders, including their president and VP shown here.

Lastly, I stopped by the Kansas Wheat booth to put in writing my gratitude for our wheat farmers – who do so much to feed our nation and world.

Thank you to everyone who participated in the State Fair this year, and I look forward to next year’s.
