As a senior member of both the Senate Finance Committee and the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee, which have jurisdiction over health care issues, and the Co-Chair of the Senate Rural Health Caucus, I have been uniquely positioned to take part in discussions related to health care and our health care system.
I am a strong supporter of quality health care for all Kansans. I have long worked to fix the inadequacies and access issues at all levels of our health care system, with a particular focus on ensuring rural communities have access to the same affordable, high quality care as their urban counterparts. I recognize the importance of providing access to affordable health insurance for Kansans, providing the necessary support to doctors, nurses and other health professionals, keeping the front doors of our hospitals and other health facilities open, and advancing medical research to find cures and other innovations to help us lead longer, healthier lives.
